Women on Boards Workshop

Details:

Where are Women Leaders in Sport?
Research shows that when boards are diverse, inclusive, and focus on fairness, they are stronger. They come up with more creative ideas, work better together, and understand the needs of different people.
In recent years, commitments from all levels of governments, dedicated funding sources and strong leadership from within sport organizations have continued to drive gender equity in sport leadership forward. Now’s the time to keep building momentum.

An Opportunity to Thrive
“I believe that sport will benefit from having more women participate as Directors and leaders. Supporting sport organizations in leading more effectively is an area of passion for me. When people of diverse perspective can find common ground through shared values, the organizations they serve are given the opportunity to thrive.”

Women on Boards Workshop
This workshop is for organizations that want to make their boards more inclusive and welcoming. It helps leaders understand why gender equity matters and how to take action.
Participants will learn:
- How to build a board culture that includes and supports everyone
- Why having more women on boards makes organizations stronger
- Tips and strategies for dealing with challenges and bringing more women onto boards

“I think it’s very exciting that Canadian Women & Sport has created this workshop. This is not something that existed when I first began to serve on Boards, and I believe it would have been very helpful on my journey. Having a resource such as this provides a roadmap for all of us to improve how we recruit, support and retain female leaders from diverse backgrounds.”
Gail Hamamoto
Executive Director of BC Wheelchair Sports Association (BCWSA) and Vice President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee
