Canadian Women & Sport Continues to Champion Body Confident Sport Movement with Latest Partners Laureus, Dove, and Nike

Virtual resources support coaches in keeping girls in sport by building body confidence
Canadian Women & Sport is pleased to partner with Laureus, Dove, and Nike to distribute a new Body Confident Sport program to Canadian sport and recreation leaders.
15% of adolescent girls report that they are dissatisfied with their appearance and body, and this limits their sport participation. With coaches and sport leaders playing a critical role in helping girls and gender-diverse youth navigate body confidence challenges so they stay in sport, Canadian Women & Sport is excited to have a new tool to offer sport leaders.
“In our recent Body Confidence research, only 50% of coaches reported feeling comfortable supporting adolescent girls with body-related challenges. We are pleased to partner with Laureus, Nike, and Dove and share this valuable program as a way to further support coaches and leaders in creating better sport experiences for girls.”
Allison Sandmeyer-Graves, Canadian Women & Sport CEO
The Body Confident Sport program, made up of easy-to-use curriculum and guides, aims to empower and equip coaches and sport leaders with knowledge, tools, and inspiration to help girls and gender-diverse youth feel more comfortable in their bodies while being active and participating in sport. When coaches and girls are empowered, they become more confident to talk about and celebrate all the things their active bodies can do.
“Laureus USA is so excited to partner with Canadian Women & Sport to promote the Body Confident Sport Program. Like Canadian Women & Sport, we believe every young person deserves a safe space to play, learn, and compete. With Body Confident Sport, we aim to support generations of young athletes to build their self-confidence and increase their opportunities in and beyond sport.”
