As we approached International Day of the Girl (October 11), Canadian Women & Sport—alongside Laureus, Dove, and Nike—were pleased to launch a series of free online events designed to address two often-overlooked barriers in girls’ sport: body confidence and the menstrual cycle.
Our research shows that while sport can be a powerful force for building confidence and resilience, many girls face barriers that impact their participation—negative body image to stigma surrounding the menstrual cycle. These events will provide practical tools, strategies, and inspiration for sport leaders to create more inclusive environments where girls can thrive.
Together, we can reimagine sport through girls’ lived experiences.
