Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Canadian Women & Sport is dedicated to building a sport system where girls and women  feel welcome and have fair opportunities to benefit and contribute. We are committed to an intersectional approach where women and girls from various communities and backgrounds can lead, thrive, and shape the future  - on the field, in the boardroom, and beyond. This work starts inside Canadian Women & Sport, where we work to drive equity forward in every aspect of the organization, from leadership to programs and daily operations.

Our Position on Trans Inclusion in Sport

Canadian Women & Sport supports a sport system that is inclusive for all women and girls, including trans women and girls. Our stance is rooted in Canadian human rights, guidance from experts and top sport organizations, and a deep commitment to inclusion.

We continue to learn through research and dialogue to ensure sport is safe and welcoming for everyone.

Who We Support

Our vision is a Canada where every girl and woman can thrive in and through sport.

We are especially committed to uplifting those who face additional systemic barriers to sport that compound the gender-based barriers they face—this includes Indigenous communities, racialized individuals, newcomers, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ individuals (including trans girls and women), and those experiencing financial hardship.

We recognize that there are many genders and that exclusion on the basis of gender is not an experience uniquely felt by girls and women. While our particular focus is on supporting girls and women, we stand in allyship with all those seeking to create a more inclusive sport system.

If you see yourself in our mission, you belong in our community. Our programs, partnerships, and resources are open to all who can benefit from our work.

Strong Partnerships, Stronger Impact

Our partners are essential to advancing our mission. By fueling programs and initiatives that remove barriers, they help open doors for women and girls to thrive in sport. Together, we’re shaping a sport system that’s more inclusive, equitable, and empowering.
