Position Available: Business Operations Internship/Co-op 

Position Summary  

We are seeking a full-time Business Operations Intern or Co-op to support our team with internal operations, data management, and marketing and communications. This multi-faceted position reports to the Manager of Finance & Operations and works closely with staff on the operations team, up and across the organization, and with contractors.  

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is excited to learn and contribute to the day-to-day operations of a national non-profit. This will provide them with a unique opportunity to learn about non-profit business operations ranging from technology, data management, communications, digital marketing, workshop management and more.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES  

Operations Management 

  • Assist Managers with technology projects such as creating or updating SOPs (standard operating procedures), creating training and user videos, or supporting with ad hoc needs. 
  • Support organizational usage of Salesforce to ensure strong data quality, report and dashboard creation. 
  • Support the planning and coordination of virtual and in-person team gatherings.  
  • Support other team members across departments with external events (i.e., panels, presentations or workshops). 
  • Support data cleaning within tech platforms utilized by the organization and assist with generating relevant reports and dashboards for internal reporting. 
  • Support the facilitation of internal staff training, including coordinating logistics, and collecting and organizing data. 
  • Support all departments with updates and management of internal communications platform (SharePoint), including monthly department updates. 

Insights & Data Management 

  • Learn and support how Canadian Women & Sport defines and tracks success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Quarterly Key Performance Indicators [KPIs]) for the organization.  
  • Collaborate with other departments on data management, quality assurance, data presentation, and effective technology use.  
  • Support the creation of data acquisition forms in platforms like Microsoft Forms, ZOHO Surveys, etc.  
  • Assist the Insights Manager through research on Canadian Women and Sport topics, including participation rates, funding initiatives, program development and management. 

Marketing & Communications Implementation  

  • Support the creative and communications team with the implementation of various communication and marketing tactics.  
  • Collect and organize data to help develop informative and engaging content for monthly newsletters, position statements, case studies, blogs and news posts, social media content and web copy.  
  • Review and report marketing metrics to inform communication and marketing strategies (i.e., social media engagements, newsletter reports, etc.) using tools like HootSuite and MailChimp.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Currently enrolled in an academic program in business, communications, public relations, sport management, business administration, marketing, or relevant field.  
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.  
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.  
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, producing work on schedule.  
  • Demonstrated ownership, initiative, accountability and problem-solving.  
  • Flexible, adaptable, inquisitive, and resourceful.  
  • Exceptional commitment to quality.  

Strong assets:  

  • Previous work or volunteer experience in the Canadian sport system.  
  • Experience working with digital tools such as CRMs (Salesforce specifically), Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, Zoom, and Submittable or equivalents.  
  • Experience using social media and social media management tools. 
  • Experience or commitment to learning to apply an intersectional gender equity lens, including specific understanding of anti-oppression and accessibility principles and their applications. 
  • Bilingualism (French-English)  

DETAILS  

  • This position is open to students currently enrolled in an academic program.  
  • This is a remote position with the option of flexible working hours.  
  • We will consider applicants located anywhere in Canada.  
  • The successful candidate will need to complete uninterrupted 12 months with Canadian Women & Sport starting September 2024. 
  • Annual salary is $42,000.
